Special Education Resources

Dear Parents/Guardians, Below is some information about some of the resources available; there are many more out there, but the Parent Resource Center (below) is a wonderful starting point.

If you’re wondering exactly what a Special Ed Rep is, a definition from the Fairfax County Council of PTAs (FCCPTA) defines the role as follows:

  • Helps ensure that PTA events are physically accessible and socially inclusive for all students and their parents.
  • Provides resources to parents who are new to the special education process or who need additional support as they navigate the system.
  • Assists parents of special education students to form working partnerships with their schools.
  • Supplies opportunities for parents of students with disabilities to become involved in ways that benefit the school as a whole.
  • Educates parents of students in general education about the needs of children with disabilities.
